Mary Beth Miyagawa

Mary Beth is the current secretary for the CARE Center board of directors and has been involved with the CARE Center since 2017. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but has called Champaign-Urbana home since 2013. Of course, she is an avid animal lover but she especially likes helping to plan events. CARE for a Taste is the biggest opportunity for the public to get involved in what we do and she is thrilled to see you all there this spring! In addition to her role at the CARE Center, Mary Beth works for the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center and fosters kittens. She shares her home with 3 cats and 1 dog but loves every type of animal out there!

Bruce Goettel

Bruce is the Vice President and Treasurer of the Care Center and has been on the board since 2014. When he is not helping to keep pets with their families at CARE Center, he is helping to find homeless pets their furever families. He is a long time volunteer at the Champaign County Humane Society, where he has been donating his time since his retirement from the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in 2006. At the Humane Society, he enjoys walking dogs and assisting clients looking for their new best friend. During his free time, Bruce enjoys walking with his Greyhound, Ava, and her other Greyhound friends in Meadowbrook Park in Urbana.

Janet Jarvis

Janet joined the CARE Center Board in 2017. She has been a foster volunteer at the Champaign County Humane Society for many years and has experience caring for animals from hamsters to dogs and every furry friend in between. As one of the craftier people with the CARE Center, most of the pet toys we sell were made by Janet. Her non-volunteer activities include working at the Illinois Natural History Survey with biologists researching threatened and endangered wildlife, playing Pokémon, and hanging out at home with her two cats and one rabbit.

Samantha Wright

Samantha Wright joined the CARE Center Board of Directors in 2019.

April faulkner

April is excited to be a part of an organization that is working to keep pets with their families! For the last 6 years, she has worked with animals in veterinary clinics and animal shelters which has given her a great feel for working with animals and their people. When April is not volunteering with the Care Center, she works as an investigator and educator for the Champaign County Humane Society. She enjoys that her role allows her to work within the community and share her love for animals.
